How many job searches do you need for unemployment in Oklahoma?
Short answer: You must do at least 2 work search efforts for each week you claim, and keep a record of them. Applying for a job, a job interview or a job search workshop all count. Asking an employer if they have openings does not count.

What counts as a work search in Oklahoma
- Sending a resume or application to an employer by fax, email, mail, in person or online
- A job interview, in person, by phone or another way the employer chooses
- A job search workshop or job readiness workshop (counts once, the week you attend; it does not have to be run by the state)
- Registering with the placement service of a professional group you belong to (counts once)

What doesn’t count
- Contacting an employer just to ask whether they have openings

How to report your job contacts
Keep your own record of each work search. OESC says the best way is to add each one in your EmployOklahoma account under Job Search Activity, Add New External Activity. You can also use the OES-622 Work Search Form. Send it only if OESC audits you.
When: Certify for the week that just ended, starting Sunday. You must certify within 14 days of the week ending date.
Where: OESC claimant portal.
When the search starts: Every week you file a weekly certification for benefits.
Keep a work search log
Keep your work search records for 2 years, even after you find a job. OESC’s form is the Work Search Form (OES-622). It asks for: date of work search, employer information (address, contact name, phone #), job title applied for, application method (online, in-person, etc.), results.
The free myjobcontacts app keeps the same details and prints them in the same columns as OESC’s form. Prefer paper? Use the free printable work search log.
Who doesn’t have to search
- You are on a temporary layoff with a set return-to-work date within 8 weeks of your last day of work
- You are a member of a certified labor or trade union with a business agent or hiring hall (you contact the hiring hall each week)
- You are in approved training, such as Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) or WIOA training
Union members: If you are in a certified labor or trade union with a business agent or hiring hall, you contact your hiring hall for work each week instead of the regular work search.
See work search exemptions for how these work in other states.
Reviews, audits and RESEA
If you are picked for an audit, you must send your work search records within 5 business days of the date the notice was mailed. OESC then contacts the employers you listed to confirm.
RESEA: If you are picked for RESEA (Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment), you must attend all appointments and workshops.
What to expect: unemployment work search audits.
If you miss your number
If you do not make the required number of work searches in a week, benefits for that week are denied and you may have to pay back money already paid.
Sign up with the job bank
